"Never Out of Sight" is a project of using books to create a physical expression of graphic structures. To achieve this, I wanted to design a experience of relying on senses to navigate and imagine spaces and objects — just as one would visually do, when looking at a layout on designed materials (magazines, newspapers). Hence, recreating the autobiography of Lex Gillette(a blind Paralympic athlete from Raleigh, North Carolina in the US) in the form of a tactile book.
Embossing is a powerful technique used to recreate the experience of a sight-based reading experience. The hardcover, when fully spread out, has raised block surfaces that echoes the position of braille alphabets spelling "FLY!", which is part of the book's title. With the book's nature being focused on touch, it was essential to keep the composition minimal, yet dynamic — just so it doesn't overwhelm the touch-reader.
For the inner pages, the main idea was to have harmonious overlays of text and images, to showcase the intersecting of graphic elements.

The hardcover's raised motif, with the cornered shapes, aim to mimic the sensory experience of reading the word "Fly!" in Braille.
